We recognise how important it is to keep your vehicle on the road while balancing costs and maintaining high-quality repairs.
From 1 July 2026, we're pleased to introduce the Preferred Motor Repairer program, utilising the Zurich Repair Network (ZRN) to help you optimise your motor repair claims costs for eligible vehicle repairs.
Why choose a Zurich Repair Network (ZRN) repairer
The ZRN is Zurich’s trusted network of motor vehicle repairers, carefully selected for their quality, efficiency and value. By working with the right partner organisation, we aim to keep your claims expenses down and support more stable insurance premiums for you.
When you lodge a claim and select a ZRN repairer, you’ll enjoy:
- Quality-assured repairs
All repairs are backed by Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring agreed standards for time, cost and parts used. - Cost efficiency
ZRN repairers are on average 20% less than other repairers, with agreed pricing and no unexpected costs. - Faster turnaround
Automated repair authorities for claims under $10,000, desktop assessments (no waiting for assessors or quotes), and process efficiencies mean reduced wait times and minimised vehicle downtime. - Convenience
Zurich can help you find the right repair location with the quickest repair timeframe, streamlining your claims experience. - Lower excess
You’ll pay a reduced excess compared to using a non-ZRN repairer.
Choose a ZRN repairer and you’re choosing reliability, value and efficiency.

How the program works
The Preferred Motor Repairer program makes it easy to save on your excess for *eligible vehicle repairs.
From 1 July 2026, when you lodge a claim for section 1 material damage for eligible vehicles, you have two options:
- ZRN repairer: Pay a lower excess of $500
- Non-ZRN repairer: Pay a standard excess of $1,000
By selecting a ZRN repairer, you automatically benefit from a reduced excess, helping you manage costs and get your vehicle back on the road sooner. Your updated excess amount will appear on your policy schedule from 1 July 2026.
Note: The excess for windscreen (nil) and personal effects ($125) claims is not affected by this program.
*Eligible vehicles include sedans, utilities, and light commercial vehicles carrying up to a capacity of 5 tonnes (excluding specialist fit outs).
VMIA will closely monitor the client experience with the Zurich Repair Network, as well as claims and repair data, on a periodic basis. To ensure the program is delivering value and meeting its objectives, VMIA will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of its effectiveness during the 2027–28 financial year.
