Overview
Your organisation’s risk appetite determines how much risk your organisation takes on and accepts. As public sector organisations, we need to define our risk appetite in accordance with the mandatory requirements of the Victorian Government Risk Management Framework.
Defining your risk appetite and sharing your risk appetite statement with decision makers across the organisation, sends a clear signal and aligned approach to decision makers about how much risk they may take, and create, in carrying out the functions and activities of the organisation.
This session will explore key concepts and the value of defining your risk appetite, with advice on how to articulate risk appetite statements.

Hi there! I’ve worked in senior risk roles across multiple agencies over the past 15 years. I’m a certified practising risk manager and a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management. I’m also an expert on the Standards Australia/ISO group for Security and Resilience and Risk Management.
Gresa, Client Capability Adviser
I’m a registered nurse by background, having worked in clinical, education and risk roles in one of the largest health services in Victoria. These roles have inspired me to complete a Master of Business (Risk Management) degree, which focused on risk management and finance. I’m passionate about risk management and healthcare and enjoy combining insights from both professions to add value to the services we provide our clients at VMIA.
